In-N-Out will soon be closer to Vancouver fans

Vancouver burger lovers, get ready. In-N-Out Burger is set to open in Washington State in 2025.

The popular (if polarizing) California burger chain recently announced it will be opening a location in the southern area of the state next year. According to a local newspaper called The Columbian, the fast food joint submitted business applications in a town called Ridgefield, located in Clark Country.

A quick Google Maps search estimates the trip to taste the beloved burgers will take approximately five hours and seven minutes taking a straight shot down Highway 99 onto Interstate-5.

With four outposts already existing in Oregon, local In-N-Out fans have likely already taken a road trip or two for their favourite fast food. But the planned Washington State location means the drive will be that little bit shorter.

Of course, it could be said that hopping on a flight to Los Angeles or Las Vegas, both of which have several In-N-Out locations, might be a more worthwhile excursion (burgers, fries and a side of sunshine? Yes, please!).

Founded in 1948 in Baldwin Park, Calif., the burger chain has gathered a cultlike following during the past 75 years. Offering a selection of classic burgers and fries on its menu, true In-N-Out fans know to order from the ‘Not So Secret’ menu items such as the Animal Style fries or burger, with pickles, chopped, caramelized onions, a mustard-seared beef patty and a generous dollop of the chain’s famous sauce.

But, of course, you don’t have to drive to the States to get a really good burger. There are plenty of amazing options right here at home.

Monzo Burger on Granville Street has become a fan favourite for Vancouverites. Our very own Mia Stainsby points to Birdies in Burnaby as a good spot for a great burger. Our resident food reviewer, Stainsby (along with another very burger-savvy Sun staff member) also points to The Gull in North Vancouver as one of the best burgers in the city. And, of course, you could always try Gordon Ramsay Burger.
