The Chinese Restaurants Awards, which has enlightened diners in Metro Vancouver since 2008, has announced its 2024 winners at its 15th awards ceremony.
Last month, 30 restaurants were named to the awards shortlist. On Tuesday, that list was shortened to the final 15 “elite” dining destinations.
Eighteen judges sought out this year’s Chinese and Taiwanese dining destinations, from food court stalls to dessert shops to fine dining restaurants.

The judging panel, which includes food writer Lee Man, food critic Alexandra Gill, and VP of Vancouver Wine School vice-president Emily Lin, is afforded “full independence” in their selections and votes, according to a news release.
The Chinese Restaurant Awards team also named six winners across individual award categories: JiangNan Wok for best new restaurant; Steven Che of Just Pizza for rising star chef of the year; Lai Wei of Lanxuan Restaurant for dim sum chef of the year; May Chau Siu-may of Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant and David Li Hon-keung of Landmark Hotpot House as master chefs of the year; and Lisa Zhang of The Fish Man for elite service crew member of the year.
Founded in 2008, the annual event is billed as the “longest-running Chinese culinary awards event in the world.”
