Kroger Sharpens Ecommerce Focus with New Business Unit

Kroger has created a new ecommerce business unit designed to align all the teams contributing to the online customer experience. The unit will be led by Yael Cosset, currently the supermarket retailer’s CIO, in his new position as EVP and Chief Digital Officer. Cosset will continue to oversee technology and data along with supervising the new online shopping unit.

“Accelerating Kroger’s ecommerce growth is a top priority,” said Ron Sargent, Chairman and CEO of Kroger in a statement. “As the architect of Kroger’s digital strategy, Yael will continue to make it easier for customers to shop for our fresh, affordable food.”

Cosset has overseen Kroger’s recent technology transformation and also lead’s the retailer’s Alternative Profit portfolio of businesses, including 84.51˚, Kroger Personal Finance and the Kroger Precision Marketing retail media business.

Kroger has been seeking to gain forward momentum in recent months. In December 2024 a long-planned merger with Albertsons was cancelled, and long-time Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen resigned earlier this month following an investigation into his personal conduct.
