Home to the first-ever Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Brancott Estate this month introduced its latest premium wine range to the market, Brancott Estate Reserve. Created for special moments of celebration both big and small, the range features five varietals: Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Rosè, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Since laying its foundations on the sheep covered valleys of Marlborough’s Wairau, Brancott Estate has always been a brand to believe that viewing things differently can lead to wonderful results. In a region once considered too cold by many for grapes, Brancott Estate’s founders went against the grain to create Marlborough’s first ever Sauvignon Blanc, changing the face of the region forever.
This commitment to the land and its unique surroundings continues to inspire the vineyard and its people even today. Each varietal of the latest Reserve range explores the unique land and climate of Marlborough’s premium Wairau and Awatere Valleys, and Hawke’s Bay. Sourcing the best fruit from specially selected parcels from around the region to bring consumers a truly exceptional range of wines with intense vibrant fruit flavours and a rich textural mouthfeel.
For winemaker Laura-Kate Morgan the concept of working with our unique environment to make exceptional wines is simple “You do not want to take more from the land than what you need,” said Laura-Kate. “I hope I can look back in years to come and people are still farming the same land and it is just as productive — the environment and land should be treated with respect.”
For the team at Brancott Estate, their latest Reserve range has been a passion project permitting the winemakers to use their blending skills to the fullest extent during the marriage of estate and grower-owned fruits – a unique trait of the Reserve varietals.
Renowned for fresh, vivacious wines bursting with flavours, the Brancott Estate Reserve family packs a punch. Each varietal bringing a distinct New Zealand aroma and palate to the range for consumers to experience.
With its deep ruby hue, the Reserve Pinot Noir 2020 is a perfect example of the wide, open coastal region of Awatere, famous for producing intense, red-fruited Pinot Noir. With hints of roasted plums and hints of bitter chocolate, this drop is perfect for a night in on these cooler autumn months.
For hosts or perhaps generous guests, the Reserve Pinot Gris serves as the brilliant addition to platters and ripe, soft cheeses. With pear, apple and a hint of ginger spice the Pinot Gris characterises the riverbeds and unique soils only found in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley.
