Loblaw invests $200K grants to five Canadian non-profit organizations

Loblaw has announced $1 million in funding for five Canadian non-profit organizations supporting underrepresented groups nationwide. Each will receive $50,000 for four years.

The organizations are Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA), the Canadian Women’s Foundation, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) and Pride at Work Canada.

“We’re proud to support organizations that share our core values as a business, bringing to life our desire to advance social equity through the important work that they do,” said Emma Race, senior director of sustainability and social impact at Loblaw.

Loblaw’s grants will support a range of initiatives: the BBPA’s RiseUp Women+ Pitch Competition for Black women-led businesses; the Canadian Women’s Foundation’s programs against gender-based violence; Holland Bloorview’s youth employment and anti-disability stigma programs; the CCAB’s support for young Indigenous entrepreneurs; and, Pride at Work Canada’s programs fostering 2SLGBTQIA+ community development through conversation and education.

The selection of grant recipients was a collaborative effort involving input from volunteers across Loblaw’s four diversity, equity, and inclusion-related employee resource groups (ERGs). These ERGs include ABLE, Embrace Your Roots, Go Further Women, and Proud.
