Low-Sugar Candy Brand, Healthy Hippo, Announces Non-GMO Project Verification

Healthy Hippo has become the first and only low-sugar candy brand to be Non-GMO Project Verified after a 9-month process.  

June 1, 2022 – Vancouver, BC – Plant-based, low-sugar candy brand, Healthy Hippo, has announced that all products have been Non-GMO Project Verified. The brand underwent stringent provisions for testing, traceability and segregation to achieve the Non-GMO “Project Verified” title. Healthy Hippo remains the only low-sugar candy brand to be Non-GMO Project Verified, placing the brand in a unique position relative to their peers.

The brand worked closely with Foodchain ID, a data solutions provider for the food economy, to achieve Non-GMO Project Verified status for their low-sugar candy brand. Foodchain ID conducted a rigorous dissection of Healthy Hippo’s formulas, along with all ingredients used in each variation of the products. A significant amount of documentation, research and analysis was deployed throughout this process.  

The decision for Healthy Hippo to gain Non-GMO Project Verified status signifies a display of transparency for the brand’s products, and, subsequently, for consumers. In addition to being the only low-sugar candy brand to be Non-GMO Project Verified, Healthy Hippo is the only brand of its kind to be 100% naturally sweetened with monk fruit, and holds a carbon neutral certified status in North America.
