Maple Leaf Foods finalizes Canada Packers’ management team

Maple Leaf Foods firms up the senior management team that will lead Canada Packers, the previously announced spin-off of its pork operations.

The management team will include:

  • Dennis Organ (president and CEO);
  • Deepak Bhandari (CFO);
  • Lance Mistelbacher (senior VP, commodities and risk management);
  • Jonathan Sawatzky (senior VP, hog production and procurement);
  • David Typer (senior VP, sales and product optimization);
  • Mauricio Alanis (VP, sustainability);
  • LeeAnn Peters (VP, food safety quality assurance, and animal care); and
  • Dezi Singh (VP, people).

“This management team brings a depth of industry experience and expertise to Canada Packers Inc., positioning it to execute its strategy as a leading Canadian pork producer and processor, focused on delivering premium and value-added products,” said a company media release.

The company will hold a special meeting of shareholders on June 11 to approve the split of the business into two independent public companies. Canada Packers will specialize in pork production and processing while Maple Leaf Foods will be a more focused brand-led CPG company.
