Joe Fusco, senior vice president at Metro Ontario, has assumed the role of chair of the board of directors of The Grocery Foundation.
Fusco takes on the role from predecessor Michael Medline, president and CEO of Empire Company.
“As a long-serving member of the Grocery Foundation Board, I’ve witnessed the extraordinary impact this charitable foundation has made, in so many communities. Stepping into the role of board chair, I am honoured to continue working with this incredible team of passionate and like-minded individuals on our mission to help feed hungry children in Canada by providing them with a healthy start to their day,” says Joe Fusco.
With support from the board directors and the public, the Foundation has raised more than $100M since its inception, more than 40 years ago. Known for its annual Night to Nurture Gala, Toonies for Tummies campaign and School Breakfast program, the Foundation works with student nutrition programs across Western Canada, Ontario and Atlantic Canada to help hungry children access healthy foods in a stigma free environment.
