Molson Coors’ Toronto and Fraser Valley breweries will begin production of malt and spirits-based beverages like Vizzy Hard Seltzer and Coors Seltzer that are destined for the Western and Central Canada markets.
The $60-million enhancements come as Molson Coors’ hard seltzer portfolio continues to grow share across the country.
“Investing behind our brewing capabilities is a top priority for Molson Coors,” said David Hamel, Molson Coors general manager of operations for Western Canada. “This upgrade supports many of our commitments as a company – from modernizing our operations in Chilliwack to unlocking additional brewing capacity for our above-premium brands, and doing so responsibly by ensuring our facilities are pillars of sustainable brewing for years to come.”
Across the country, Molson Coors’s Toronto Brewery was founded in 1955 and is the company’s biggest Canadian facility. It has the capacity to brew 28 different brands, including Molson Canadian, Coors Light and Coors Original. Now, the brewery can add 355-ml cans to its list of production capabilities, specifically for hard seltzer and flavoured-alcoholic beverages.
“As Molson Coors’ hard seltzer portfolio continues to see strong momentum, these operational upgrades are immensely beneficial to rounding out our production capabilities in Ontario,” said Tan Le, Molson Coors general manager of the Toronto Brewery.
