New World stores have informed consumers about an upcoming change affecting alcohol sales.
Starting from the 9th of December, 2024, Auckland Council’s new Local Alcohol Policy requires all supermarkets to stop selling alcohol at 9 p.m. each night.
This is a council decision, and Auckland New World supermarkets are fully committed to complying with these new regulations.
To avoid disappointment, customers have been requested to plan ahead, shop early and complete any alcohol purchases before 9 pm.
There will be clear signs, reminders and announcements in New World stores to help customers adjust to the new hours.
Checkout will cut off, and New World systems will automatically stop processing alcohol sales after 9 pm.
This new alcohol policy includes low-alcohol products. The 9 pm cut-off has also been applied to low and zero-alcohol products, such as zero percent alcohol beer.
New World teams have been working hard to implement these changes and have asked for customers’ patience and understanding.
The teams know this is an adjustment and appreciate customer support in showing kindness as they help them navigate these new rules. They thanked customers for their cooperation as they worked together to meet Auckland Council’s new policy requirements.
