Corteva Agriscience hopes to “close the loop” on season-long cereal crop protection with a new fungicide seed treatment featuring four active ingredients.
Lumiscend Luxe targets fusarium and rhizoctonia, two major early season crop diseases that have become persistent threats for Canadian wheat growers. Both contribute to root, crown and foot rots and harm yield and grain quality.
Corteva says the seed treatment attained a 6.3 bushel per acre yield advantage over standard treatments (74.3 bu. per acre for the former and 68 bu. per acre for the latter) during its Western Canada-wide research authorization trials last year.

In a news release, the company praised its product’s “improved seedling emergence, enhanced root development and denser plant stands under disease pressure” during the trials.
The four actives include fungicides from groups 3, 4 and 7, Chad Garrod, seed applied technology portfolio product manager for Corteva, wrote in the release.
“Lumiscend Luxe sets a new benchmark in cereal fungicide seed treatments, helping maximize yield potential through strong disease protection, improved vigour and emergence,” he said.
“With four unique actives — including inpyrfluxam — it delivers superior defence against the broadest range of cereal seed- and soil-borne diseases. With a simple all-in-one formulation, Lumiscend Luxe is easy to choose and easy to use for farmers.”
The treatment was developed to work as a team with Corteva’s Telbek Pro fungicide with Adavelt active. The result, says the company, is “complete seasonal defence” for wheat, durum, barley and oats. The product also works with corn, millet, rye and triticale.
“Lumiscend Luxe consistently delivers faster dry time, with a more even application, no treater buildup and excellent flow through the seed drill,” the release said.
The product is registered for use in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
