Ocean Wise Seafood Festival Returns: February 2022
Delicious sustainable seafood – from chowders and poke bowls to fillets and packaged products – coming to restaurants and grocers across North America this February as top chefs serve up support for sustainable seafood program
November 10, 2021 – National Food Festival Alert! All through the month of February 2022, Ocean Wise will host its Seafood Festival, offering up delicious sustainable seafood. From February 1st – 28th, Ocean Wise Seafood partners will have some of their most exciting offerings available for purchase at restaurants, grocery stores and other businesses, with proceeds supporting the not-for-profit Ocean Wise Seafood program.
Participating businesses and full event details will be available at ocean.org/seafood in January.
Throughout the month of February media will be invited to preview festival offerings and speak with participants. Mark your calendars and indicate your interest in receiving exclusive invitations by emailing seafood@ocean.org.
Overfishing is one of the greatest threats to our world’s oceans with grave impacts on the food web and the livelihoods of millions of people worldwide. By simply changing the seafoods we eat people everywhere can help end overfishing, protecting our oceans and the lives that depend on them.
Since 2005, the Ocean Wise symbol next to a seafood item at a restaurant or grocery store has helped Canadians easily choose ocean-friendly seafood. This February, take a stand for the oceans by choosing one of the festival dishes, like the ‘Give Two Shucks’ oyster chowder or the ‘Smoked Sablefish’! Dishes will be available for dine-in, delivery or take out.
Every dollar raised during the Ocean Wise Seafood Festival helps the seafood program to provide easy to follow guidance for sustainable oceans. Collectively, choosing Ocean Wise seafood makes a difference for the fishers and farmers working to secure the health of our oceans, lakes and rivers for generations to come.
