OOYF winner to be chosen August 22

OOYF alumni, Adam and Dana Thatcher, have offered to host the event for a second year at their event venue, Barn Swallow Fields, located on their farm.

The OOYF nominees for 2024 are Romy and Ryan Schill of Circle R Lambs in Wallenstein, and Matt Bergman and DJ Wassenaar of Haybury Farms Inc. in Jarvis.  

Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers’ program is an annual competition to recognize farmers that exemplify excellence in their profession and promote the tremendous contribution of agriculture to the economy and our lives. Open to participants 18 to 39 years of age, who make the the majority of their income from on-farm sources, participants are selected from seven regions across Canada, with two national winners chosen each year. 

Ontario’s winners will go on to represent the province at the national event in November.
