In the latest instalment of Recall Roundup (31 January – 6 February 2025), New Food highlights recent food and beverage recalls in the UK and US.
In the UK this week, Birds Eye is recalling Goodfella’s Stonebaked Thin Garlic Bread because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label.
The garlic bread has been mispacked with garlic bread that contains cheese. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
Recalled product:
If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
Lidl is extending the recall of two Alpenfest Salted Mini Pretzel products because they may cause a burning sensation in the mouth when consumed, potentially causing discomfort and making them unsafe to the consumer.
Recalled products:
If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the nearest Lidl store for a full refund.
Lidl Northern Ireland is extending its recall of Deluxe Cheddar Cheese Wedge products to include Deluxe Walnut Cheddar Cheese Wedge and Deluxe Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese Wedge because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in these products.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause severe, sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms, including fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhoea. For pregnant women, infection can result in miscarriage or stillbirth.

Customers who have bought the above products are advised not to eat them. Instead, they should return the products to where they were bought for a full refund.
In the US this week, United Natural Trading is voluntarily recalling Fresh Direct Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels due to the presence of an undeclared milk allergen.

No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date.
Consumers who have any remaining product with this lot number should not consume it but rather should discard it. Consumers should retain their online receipts, packaging reflecting lot numbers or any other proof of purchase they may have for a refund.
Gerber Products Company is initiating a recall and discontinuation of all batches of Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks due to a potential choking hazard for babies and young children.
Recalled products:
The recall was initiated after receiving consumer complaints of choking incidents. To date, one emergency room visit has been reported to the firm.
Consumers who may have purchased the above products should return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Turkana Food is recalling 858 cases of Aleppo Tahini Sesame Paste because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Salmonella can cause serious infections in people with weakened immune systems and may lead to fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain in healthy individuals.
