Recall Roundup: Pathogens and undeclared allergens

In the US, Wenders LLC is recalling certain batches of its “50 percent Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashew”s as they “have the potential” to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The lots included in the recall are T12139, T12140, T12141, and T12142 and the SKU number to look out for is 37884.

The product was sold in the following states at Trader Joe’s stores: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

The product is identifiable through the country of origin (India or Vietnam) as well as  the “Lot No:” printed on the back panel of the plastic pouches.

The company has shared that “no other Lot Nos or products are affected by this recall” and “no illnesses have been reported to date”.

Consumers have been advised not to eat any of the products included in this recall. If products have been bought then they should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Undeclared allergens

Meanwhile in the UK Origin Kitchen is recalling all Spread & Stir and Bessert products as they contains peanuts that are not mentioned on the label.

The company has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations which will be able to inform their members about the recall.

Advice states that if consumers have purchased the product and have an allergy to peanuts, they should not eat them. Instead, the products can be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund with or without a receipt.
