Rogers Sugar Inc. reaches tentative agreement with union at Vancouver refinery

Rogers Sugar Inc. has negotiated an agreement with the Public and Private Workers of Canada (PPWC) Local 8. The union represents the employees of Rogers Sugar’s Vancouver-based refinery.

The Vancouver refinery employs approximately 140 unionized workers. Employees have been on strike since Sept. 28, 2023.

Under the new agreement, the next step is a ratification vote, scheduled for next week. The vote will determine whether the proposed terms are acceptable to the union members. Rogers Sugar Inc. said it wouldn’t make any further public statements regarding the ongoing bargaining process.

The Vancouver refinery is operated by Lantic Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Rogers Sugar.
