SN Top 10: Costco, Walgreens, Amazon top the week’s headlines

In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, the top story was Colorado lawsuit to block Kroger, Albertsons deal to proceed. The state of Colorado’s lawsuit aiming to block the $24.6 billion Kroger, Albertsons merger will move forward, following a ruling by Denver District Court Judge Andrew Luxen, rejecting Kroger’s motion to dismiss the case. The ruling follows a similar court decision in Washington state in April, where King County Superior Court Judge Marshall Ferguson ruled against the companies’ motion to dismiss the state attorney general’s antitrust lawsuit.

In other news, Costco has agreed to pay $2 million as a result of a class action lawsuit involving the retailer’s Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes. Dr. D Joseph Kurtz filed the class action complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Kurtz claimed the flushable wipes caused damage to pipes, septic systems, sewage lines, and other plumbing.
