Southern Ontario businesses receive $2.4M to boost manufacturing

Coco Bakery, Metzger Meats, and Al-Shamas Food Products will receive $2.4 million from the federal government to boost their manufacturing and operational capacity.

With the help of the funding, the three businesses will be able to grow their personnel, adopt new technologies, and improve their operating capacities, which will result in 56 new jobs.

“Today’s investment of nearly $2.4 million will support three businesses as they showcase the abilities of our local food manufacturers while also creating good jobs and contributing to a strong southern Ontario economy,” said Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDEV) Minister Filomena Tassi.

Coco Bakery Inc., established in 2012, specializes in crafting sweet delicacies such as French macarons and cake pops for distribution across Canada and the U.S. Metzger Meat Products Inc., founded in 1990 and based in Hensall, produces smoked and European-style cured meat products, garnering accolades for its quality offerings. Al-Shamas Food Products Ltd., founded in 2014 in Mississauga, is renowned for its diverse range of halal ethnic frozen foods, including kebabs and samosas, catering to domestic and U.S. markets.
