PORTLAND, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–During the 2023 Employee Giving Campaign, employees at Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) donated $1.8 million benefiting 2,562 schools and nonprofit organizations across the nation. After a double match by The Standard and parent organization Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, total donations from the campaign exceed $5.5 million.
Contributions from the 1,868 employees who participated along with the matching funds were distributed to nonprofit organizations and schools during 2023.
“I’m incredibly proud of how my fellow employees show up for both our customers and communities,” said Dan McMillan, president and CEO at The Standard. “Our nonprofit and school partners are a source of strength and resiliency for our communities during challenging times. I continue to be humbled by the generosity of our employees and retirees.”
During the Employee Giving Campaign, The Standard also celebrated the 17th anniversary of the Denim Impact Fund. The program, formerly named Jeans Days, provides employees incentives including the right to wear jeans and sneakers to work all year in exchange for a $100 donation to the Fund collectively helping a cause in their communities. The program name and purpose have evolved as The Standard adopted a flexibility first workplace. The 2023 DIF program — focused on youth behavioral health and crisis intervention — raised more than $358,000 for these nonprofit organizations: National Alliance on Mental Illness in Arlington, Virginia; Trillium Family Services in Portland, Oregon; Lines for Life in Portland, Oregon; Face to Face in St. Paul, Minnesota; Lighthouse Youth & Family Services in Cincinnati, Ohio; Mental Health Association of Westchester in White Plains, New York; and HumanKind in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The year-round giving program allows employees the flexibility to donate to nonprofit organizations and get the double match for employee contributions up to $5,000 per employee.
