Toonies for Tummies Breakfast Events in Calgary and Pictou Landing

Over 40 industry colleagues gathered on Feb. 20 to participate in a breakfast at St-Cyril School in Calgary. This event, a part of the Toonies for Tummies (#Toonies4Tummies) campaign, showcased a commitment to community support. Members of the Sobeys, Safeway, and Calgary Co-op leadership and store teams were also in attendance.

Samantha Tomlinson, the vice principal of St-Cyril School, says the event fosters a sense of community. Doors opened at 8 a.m., welcoming students of diverse backgrounds, including various ethnicities, First Nations and those affected by conflicts like those in Ukraine.

On Feb. 22, 30 industry colleagues convened at Pictou Landing First Nation School in Nova Scotia for a breakfast event.

Haley Bernard, the principal of Pictou Landing First Nation School, spoke about the vital support provided by the elders and community, emphasizing the role of the school as a hub for sacred practices and ceremonial events.

The morning’s breakfast began with a smudging ceremony, setting a tone of reverence and gratitude. The values of Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility and Truth were palpable throughout the event.
