The tractor embedded in an historic building in Seaforth, Ont., which has disrupted life and closed down the main street for two months is finally free.
Why doesn’t she just leave? It’s a question many may ask themselves about a woman they know or suspect is…
Residents cheered as a John Deere 7R pulled the 6175R Model John Deere from the building, and the building continued to stand.
Workers have torn the brick fascia off the building and reenforced it with wooden framing. Posts and a beam were installed to hold up the corner of the building shorn off by the tractor when it crashed into the real estate office with an apartment above it.
Over a couple of hours on the afternoon of Dec. 8, workers secured the area, and slowly dragged the tractor back in stages, including a stop to deflate the tires as it rolled out of the building and under the beam.
The main street of the town in the agriculture heart of Huron County has been closed as there were concerns that the building could collapse as vehicles rolled by. The building is believed to be the oldest brick building on the main street and is expected to be restored.
The tractor crashed into the building on Oct. 12. It was pulling two large dump wagons, which were removed shortly after the crash.
The 23-year-old driver of the tractor is charged with careless driving, failing to stop at a red light, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.
