The Turkish cherry season has begun and one Polish company is moving the Turkish stone fruit throughout European markets. Demand is been stable so far, but prices have been on the higher end of the scale. Once more producing areas bring their cherries to the market, prices are expected to drop.
Yuksel Zengin, Managing Director of Fresh Point Sp. z o.o., has a Polish company that trades in various Turkish fruits in multiple European markets: “Fresh Point is a Polish company that is specialized in Turkish fresh fruits and vegetables. We are the partner company of the biggest Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetables exporter – Ucak Kardesler in Europe and sell a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. We’ve been directly working with a couple of supermarket chains in both Poland and Romania. However, we’re able to supply all European countries with our produce.”
The cherry season has recently started and according to Zengin, demand has been as stable as expected. “Currently our focus is set on the Turkish cherry season. So far, the season is going well, our first Cherries are on the way to Europe. We’ve only just started. Demand is similar to how it was last year, which was positive by all means. Not much has changed in this regard, but prices are currently slightly high. We expect prices to drop down once other producing regions have their cherries enter the market.”
“Although the cherry season just started and has our immediate attention, we’re also in the midst of the peach, nectarine and watermelon season. We’re planning to start the Sekerpare variety of Apricots by the second half of June. For the upcoming month our goal and aim will be to increase our volumes for all our stone fruits.” Zengin concludes.
