The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates has informed Lebanon of the decision of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment to lift the ban on the import of Lebanese apples. This ban had been imposed in 2017, as the goods from Lebanon were not conforming to international standards.
According to ambassador of Lebanon to the UAE, Fouad Shehab Dandan, lifting the ban came as a result of the tireless efforts of the Lebanese Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, which set specific standards for farmers and traders wishing to export Lebanese apples to the UAE market, to match international standards, approved in the UAE.
