FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bright, ON, July 13,
2022— In support of the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region, Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life (https://udderlyridiculousfarmlife.com) in Bright, Ontario is inviting you to attend Wreck the Dress 2022 on
September 10, 2022, a unique fundraiser that aims to change the lives of women and their children
coming out of the shelters with an opportunity to get free grants to put
towards schooling.

Participants, all wearing their unwanted wedding or
special occasion gowns, will enjoy a taste of farm life, complete with goats,
alpacas and various farm animals. The
mud, straw, animal-safe condiments and mayhem will be captured by photographers
as a memorable keepsake of the day. Tickets are $200 per person and net
proceeds will raise funds for
a new program called the Moving Forward Scholarship Fund.

Women (and
women-identifying, non-gendered, and/or gendered allies) can participate wearing
a gown
. You must be 18+ to participate. Additional
tickets for spectators are available for $15/each. Please note, spectators will have no
access or interaction with animals. Tickets are limited so buy your tickets
today at https://wreckthedress.ca.

In addition to the Wreck the Dress activities, the event will have
entertainment, a vendor marketplace and food trucks. More details will be
announced in the coming weeks on all the inclusions, fun and excitement.

Wreck the dress events (also known as “trash the dress”) are
growing in popularity as post-wedding (or post-divorce) photo shoots to
artistically photograph the “destruction” of your wedding gown in interesting
ways.

“Trashing a gown can be a
powerful symbol of moving past a tragic, emotional past with laughter, joy, and
new friendships,” said Cheryl
Haskett, Founder, Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life and Udderly Ridiculous, an ice
cream made from goat’s milk.

Haskett recently opened up
about her own personal story of intimate partner violence on an episode of She Is Your Neighbour, a
project that aims to explore the realities and complexities of domestic
violence by sharing stories from people from all walks of life.

“Women can be powerful agents
of change and productive members of the community when given the tools and
support to grow past trauma,” added Haskett. “Providing an outlet for women who
want to move past surviving
to thriving is something I feel passionate about.”
