Vaess has opened a new production facility in Poland as part of its journey toward innovation and sustainable food solutions.
Vaess Agersol, an integral part of Vaess, Dutch food engineers, and the specialist in alginate solutions, officially opened the world’s largest alginate gel production facility in Stare Koźle, Poland.
With an area of 5,500 m², the modern facility enables Vaess to meet global demand and drive innovation across various sectors, including meat, fish, bakery, pet food, and plant-based products.
Vaess said with the opening of the new facility in Poland — the world’s largest alginate production site at 3300 m2 — it is better equipped to meet the demand for alginate products.
“With state-of-the-art technology and a steadfast focus on efficiency, sustainability, and food safety, our new facility exemplifies the future of food production at Vaess,” the company wrote .

The new facility significantly enhances Vaess’s production capabilities, particularly in the sausage industry.
“We are now the global leader in alginate, a seaweed-based casing essential for sausage production. This expansion is vital for maintaining our industry leadership,” stated Coen van Oorschot, director at Vaess. “With manufacturing sites in Deventer, Melbourne, and Stare Koźle, we are well-positioned to address increasing market demand.”
The investment in the new facility means Vaess can serve its customers even better by increasing production capacity to meet growing demand; improving product consistency through advanced manufacturing processes; and enhancing sustainability with reduced waste, lower energy consumption, and fewer emissions.
