Valeo Foods Group, one of Europe’s leading producers of sweets, treats and snacks, acquires Appalaches Nature, a Canadian maple syrup business operating from a 100,000-sf carbon neutral facility in Thetford Mines, Que.
Started in 2018, Appalaches Nature is a supplier of maple syrup to European, Canadian and U.S. markets.
The transaction marks Valeo Foods’ second acquisition in North America as well as within the maple syrup market.
Valeo Foods also owns Canada-based Les Industries Bernard & Fils business, one of the world’s leading maple syrup processors, which it acquired in 2022. Additionally, it owns the Rowse Honey brand, which produces and distributes more than 30,000 tonnes of honey internationally each year.
Valeo Foods plans to integrate Appalaches Nature with Bernard where there are synergies. This will enable both businesses to increase production capacity to facilitate expansion.
The day-to-day operations of Appalaches Nature will be led by the existing management team, in close collaboration with Bernard’s management team.
