Are you an amateur chef in Vancouver who loves to host dinner parties? Food Network is looking for you.
The television network is looking to cast five home chefs for an upcoming episode of the show Come Dine with Me Canada, a local take on the
international cooking competition favourite
.
According to a news release shared about the opportunity, selected amateur chefs will be asked to host a dinner party in their homes in order to showcase their culinary skills. In a somewhat predictable reality TV twist, the guests of said dinner party will be the fellow contestants competing on the show.
Dishes served during the dinner party will be rated by the attending competitors after each meal. The highest score marked on each dinner party by the end of the week will be named the winner.
So, what’s at stake during this high-pressure home dinner hosting? A cash prize of an as-yet undisclosed amount.
Interested applicants can apply online at
by the July 25 deadline.
Some questions on the online application include: “What are your pet peeves?”, “Are you very competitive?”, and “What are your hobbies (other than cooking)?”. If we had to guess, we’d imagine the more colourful responses — “I can’t stand loud eaters”, “I LOVE to win!”, and “I live with my partner, our dog and 13 pet guinea pigs” — might score extra points for applicants.
In addition to cooking skills (and perhaps some added quirkiness), there are some rules for application.
In order to be eligible, applicants must be 19 years of age or older, must live in Canada, be able to commit to two full days or four consecutive evenings of filming, and be available to film between August and October of this year.
Come Dine with Me Canada is schedule to air on Food Network and Citytv+ later his year with more details about air dates and times to be announced.
