Waitrose recalls Indian Takeaway for 2 over undeclared sesame and soya allergens

Waitrose and Partners is urgently recalling its Indian Takeaway for 2 after finding some packs mispacked with spring rolls containing undeclared sesame and soya allergens. This presents a significant health risk to anyone with allergies to these ingredients.

The affected 1412g packs, with a use-by date of 25 July 2025, have been sold across Waitrose stores in the UK.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has confirmed that retailers selling the affected products will display point-of-sale notices warning customers not to consume the contaminated batches.

The retailer is advising customers with allergies to sesame or soya to avoid eating the product and return it to their nearest Waitrose branch for a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact Waitrose Customer Care on 0800 188 884, option 4.

This Waitrose recall follows heightened regulatory activity after several recent announcements from the Food Standards Agency.

Last week, the FSA launched a national campaign warning parents and carers not to give children under seven slush ice drinks or ‘slushies’ containing glycerol, citing potential serious health risks.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Professor Robin May confirmed he will step down as Chief Scientific Adviser at the FSA in September after five years. He will move to a new role as Interim Chief Scientific Officer at the UK Health Security Agency.
