Walmart has upgraded its Walmart Restored program by introducing Walmart Restored Premium, offering a broader assortment of “like new” refurbished items at the retailer’s everyday low prices. The original program debuted in August 2022.
Items in the Restored Premium category show no signs of cosmetic damage and come with a 1-year warranty and 30-day (or more) free returns. Refurbishments are performed by the products’ original manufacturers or a manufacturer-authorized third party.
Walmart sees the new Restored Premium tier as an opportunity for Walmart Marketplace sellers to broaden their assortments and bring top-quality refurbished items to customers. With easier access to the Walmart customer base, “sellers can help build trust toward a cycle of sales and growth, eventually expanding their capabilities into other areas — from computers to lawnmowers, there’s little limit on what the future of Restored Premium might hold,” wrote Michael Mosser, VP and Category Lead, Marketplace at Walmart U.S. in a blog post. “We’ll continue listening to what sellers want and need as we work together to make Walmart’s resale experience second-to-none.”
The refurbishment program aligns with Walmart’s sustainability initiatives, which include working with Rubi Laboratories to develop textiles made from captured carbon and partnering with PepsiCo to support regenerative agriculture with $120 million in grants.
