CFIA suspends Abe’s Frozen Desserts’ licence

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspends the Safe Food for Canadians licences of Abe’s Frozen Desserts, Terrebonne, Que.

While the suspension is in effect, Abe’s Frozen Desserts cannot conduct any activity requiring SFC licences.

In a statement, CFIA said the suspension was due to non-compliance with the following the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR)  requirements:

  • controls applied during product pasteurization;
  • implementation of a preventive control plan and hazards analysis;
  • controls, sanitation and sampling measures related to Listeria monocytogenes; and
  • equipment maintenance and related record keeping.

CFIA clarified the suspension hasn’t caused any recalls.

The suspension will be lifted corrective measures are taken. If Abe’s Frozen Desserts fails to take corrective action within 90 days, the licence may be cancelled.

Abe’s Frozen Desserts hasn’t yet responded to the suspension. It’s website just has a teaser saying, “Something cool is coming soon.” Plus, their last social media post was in Sept. 2025.
