Jed’s Helps Customers Give Back

Jed’s is partnering with Spirit of Adventure from October to help young kiwis keep exploring with the launch of their Jed’s Give Back Bean Bags.

Available in selected supermarkets nationwide, 20 cents from every specially marked Jed’s Bean Bag pack that is purchased will go directly to the Spirit of Adventure Trust. A not-for-profit organisation empowering young New Zealanders to reach their full potential through the challenge of the sea.

Chances are you’ve come across someone who has been on the Spirit of Adventure. If you haven’t, it’s that amazing old school looking ship that you’ve likely seen out in the Auckland Harbour. The Spirit of Adventure Trust takes young people from all over the country on a 10-day voyage that quite literally changes their life.

Operational since 1972, some 1200 students have taken part in life changing voyages every year, the trust has seen a lot of transformation! Alumni have gone on to do amazing things, spanning successful corporate, government and entertainment careers with many crediting their success to their voyage on board Spirit.

It’s guaranteed that this partnership with Jed’s will see $60,000 raised. Your purchase of a Jed’s Give Back Bean Bag could help to secure or subsidise the voyage of many young kiwis hoping to go on the ship.

“It’s really hard to put into words how much the voyages can alter the lives of the young people who get involved. Some of them are challenged when they arrive onboard, they can’t imagine anything worse than 10 days at sea device free. Amazingly though, it’s often these same people who at the end are crying because they don’t want to leave,” said Spirit of Adventure Trust CEO, Bruce Pilbrow.

“The aim is to create a unique environment that allows our young crew members to learn skills they can take with them into the future including everything from team-work and communication to self-reliance, self-discipline, self-esteem, resilience, confidence and leadership – the ship is just a small part of the journey. It’s great to be working with a partner like Jed’s, not only does their attitude for the outdoors and adventure align perfectly with our own, but anything that helps to get more kids involved gets a big tick from us!”

“It’s been a really inspiring journey partnering with the Spirit of Adventure Trust and learning about the huge positive impact they have had on kiwis. We are really excited to be able to support the work they do through our coffee, and it’s an incredible feeling to know our consumers too can change someone’s life with a simple purchase of Jed’s Give Back Bean Bags,” said Michael Stribrny from Jed’s.

Jed’s Give Back Bean Bags have an RRP of $6.99 per box and come in three different strengths, 3, 4 and 5. With the campaign aiming to run for an entire year, consumers just been given the perfect excuse to get a few extra cups of coffee into their life!
