According to Citrus 
Research International, mandarins all over South Africa are under threat from the leaf-sucking stink bug. In various parts of the country, mandarin growers are concerned about this bug, which is currently causing their fruit to drop.
The bug, called leptoglossus membranaceus, is an indigenous pest which has become more common recently. According to citrus researchers, mandarin-producing farms all over South Africa are threatened.
Citrus Research International’s (CRI) manager for research and technical, Tim Grout, says sightings have been reported on farms in Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape.
