Toronto-based organic snack food company Rawcology has entered a strategic joint venture with AM Ingredients (AMI).
After a successful rotation within Costco stores on the West Coast in July 2025, Rawcology began another rotation on Apr. 13, 2026, which increased demand for its products.
AMI operates a 19,000-sf facility in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., with packing and shipping capabilities that will allow Rawcology to scale their production to meet the growing demand for its products.
“We found ourselves at an inflection point in the business with demand really pushing past what our supply capacity was,” explained Megan Loach Tomulka, co-owner, CMO and head of sales for Rawcology.
Production will continue at Rawcology’s Etobicoke, Ont., facility before being shipped to AM Ingredients to be packed and shipped across the country.
Megan and Tara Tomulka, founder and CEO, Rawcology, emphasized AMI’s ability to quickly pack and ship their product, noting it could accomplish in one 12-hour shift what would take Rawcology seven or eight business days.
“The shipping and logistics are huge,” said Tara. “In an environment where fuel costs have dramatically increased, its so beneficial for us in terms of cost of labour to produce, ship, and transport, especially since we are delivering to the West Coast of Canada.”
In their previous Costco rotation, they shipped 13 pallets of products per week that they largely hand packed with the assistance of a small semi-auto packing machine. The company have already delivered 76 pallets to AM Ingredients for this rotation, with another 44 set to ship in the coming weeks.
Rawcology takes pride in self-manufacturing and their allergen-free facility. They also value the speed to innovation this partnership will grant them.
“We have a lot of other ideas, and we have access to AMI’s St. David’s factory, so we’re really able to work together as partners to drive all of these businesses forward,” Megan told Food in Canada.
Due to the sensitive nature of their product, Rawcology engaged 15 different co-packers before finding one who worked with their manufacturing process.
This partnership also means Rawcology’s products are now featured at the Chocolate & Crunch Market in Niagara alongside St. Davids Chocolates and Remix Snacks, which is co-packed by AM Ingredients.
“We’re excited to be partnering with a group of individuals who value the same things that we do,” said Megan. “It really comes down to, we want food that nourishes families, these are both family businesses so we’re able to come together with the understanding of ‘what’s being fed to your kids?’ and we want it to be intentional and have a purpose behind it.”
