Tate & Lyle partners with AGRANA Fruit to expand operations in the fruit preparation market in Brazil

Tate & Lyle, a leading global provider of food and beverage solutions and ingredients, announces a new long-term partnership in Brazil with AGRANA Fruit, a global leader in fruit preparations. The agreement establishes new manufacturing dynamics for Brazil’s fruit preparations segment, bringing more innovation to the sector.

Optimised production
With the partnership, which starts in September, Tate & Lyle Brazil will transfer the production of fruit preparations from its facility in Juiz de Fora (MG) to AGRANA Fruit’s facility with cutting-edge equipment in Cabreúva, in the countryside of São Paulo. The decision aims to optimise the production process, offering innovative solutions to meet customer demand aligned with the main trends in the sector.

“With this agreement, we will have access to new manufacturing technologies, which will allow us greater ability to expand in the market, maintaining the technical and commercial service that we are known for in-house,” comments Oswaldo Nardinelli, General Manager of Tate & Lyle in Latin America. “The partnership with AGRANA Fruit demonstrates our commitment to meet the needs of our customers for healthier products with cleaner labels, as it will allow us to expand our portfolio to include new flavor and texture options for fruit preparations.”

For AGRANA Fruit, the agreement also offers benefits. “With this proximity between companies, we will be able to access Tate & Lyle’s broader ingredient solutions and combine this know-how with AGRANA Fruit’s strength in fruit preparations, which will expand our customer product offering”, says Rogerio Tocchini, General Manager of AGRANA Fruit in Brazil.

In full expansion
Tate & Lyle’s fruit prep production is exclusive to Brazil, and is an especially important part of the company´s regional portfolio as it serves the dairy market, one of the key categories for the company. In addition, fruit preparations have a health appeal and great synergy with other Tate & Lyle ingredients, such as modified starches, stabilisers, and functional systems that, in Brazil, are produced at the Guarani unit, in Minas Gerais.

Currently, Tate & Lyle provides fruit preparations for yogurt and dairy drinks manufacturers, but is looking to target other categories, a path that will be taken more easily with access to AGRANA’s cutting-edge manufacturing technology and expertise.

The partnership with AGRANA Fruit is integrated into Tate & Lyle’s strategy to increase its presence in the Brazilian market for ingredients for the food and beverage industry. Brazil already has the company’s largest Latin America operation, including an application center in São Paulo that had the area expanded by six times in 2019, making it among the company’s largest in the world.
