These B.C. hotels were named among the world's best

Victoria’s Abigail’s Hotel has been named the seventh best hotel in the world, and the No. 1 best hotel in Canada , according to TripAdvisor’s 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Hotels website.
The 1930s Tudor mansion, adult-only, 30 room property was also last year’s top Canadian hotel on the list.
“We are proud and honoured to share that Abigail’s Hotel has been recognized among the top seven hotels in the world and remains the No. 1 hotel in Canada. We are especially proud to be the only Canadian hotel ranked in the global top 10,” the hotel posted on its Facebook page. “This remarkable achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated team, whose passion and commitment create exceptional experiences every day, and without our wonderful guests whose support and loyalty continue to inspire us.”
Coming in at No. 1 on the world’s top hotel list was G.H. Universal Hotel in Bandung, Indonesia. The No. 2 spot went to Hotel Colline de France in Gramado, Brazil, with Hotel Sporting Family Hospitality in Livigno, Italy, rounding out the top three.
Joining Abigail’s Hotel on the top 2026 Canadian hotel honours list were: Vancouver’s Exchange Hotel at No. 3; Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino at No. 4; Vancouver’s Loden Hotel at No. 5; and Sonora Resort on Sonora Island at No. 8.
The Wickaninnish Inn also earned the No. 5 spot on the top-luxury-hotels-in-the-world list. As well, the oceanside resort was picked the top Canadian luxury hotel with the Sonora Resort coming close behind at No. 2 and the Loden Hotel at No. 5.
“These awards are particularly meaningful because they come directly from our guests,” said Charles McDiarmid, Maître de Maison and co-owner of the Wickaninnish Inn in a statement. “To be recognized not only as Canada’s leading luxury hotel, but also among the top luxury hotels in the world is an incredible honour. We are deeply grateful to our guests for sharing their experiences and to our dedicated team, whose commitment to genuine hospitality creates unforgettable memories for visitors from around the globe.”
TripAdvisor also puts out a Best of the Best Things To Do list and under the heading of Top Experiences — Canada, the top 10 rankings included the Victoria Whale and Wildlife Cruise at No. 2; Victoria Guided Food and History Tour at No. 5; and Vancouver’s The Grand Bicycle Tour, by Cycle City Tours, earning the No. 7 spot.
For the Best of the Best Things to Do — Top Attractions Canada, Victoria’s Butchart Gardens earned the second spot on the list with Stanley Park coming in at No. 5.
The TripAdvisor lists celebrate “the highest level of excellence in travel.” The honours are awarded to locations that garner a “high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period.” According to TripAdvisor, out of its eight million listings, fewer than one per cent achieve that milestone.
