Rwathia Agrofarm is a general partnership incorporated in 2019 in Kenya to engage in farming and exporting of organically grown fresh produce-mainly fruit and herbs. The company supports local farmers and locally grown fruits and herbs.

Rwathia Agrofarm is a pre-revenue early stage start-up still gearing towards their first product export sales and proof of business. The company is focussing on operations in production; contracting with farmers in rural emerging markets to produce according to their methods.
“We use sustainable climate resilient production methods and help facilitate specialty seeds, and tree seedlings to restore the soils, and provide materials for their production and secure post-harvest treatment of crops. We endeavour to export and market the products to high-end consumers in the European, China and Middle Eastern markets.”
Rwathia Agrofarm occupies a central position in the chain between growers and buyers, keeping the distance between the two parties as short as possible. The company collects from the production sites, but also offer bundled ‘fresh produce flows’ from their multifunctional logistics centres which are centrally located at the heart of the largest horticultural production region in Kenya, with good road, rail, water and airfreight links.
The produce sold by Rwathia Agrofarm is sourced from large growing areas farmed by (affiliated) growers, providing a wide range all year round.
“The most important factor is that whichever growers we work with and no matter which produce we market, buyers are always assured of the very best quality because we work straight from the source and exclusively with growers who have the necessary certification.”
There is a need for Kenya to export 40% of its avocado produce to China at -30 degrees Celsius, South Africa, North America, Europe, and emerging markets present a great opportunity for Rwathia Agrofarm.
There is lack of technology in Kenya to provide and sustain required temperatures whilst retaining the product integrity. Cryogenic Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technology, a global solution for the existing gap is needed. This cold chain solution is an advanced global practice for attainment of superior quality products using natural food grade carbon dioxide to attain sub-zero temperatures (0 to -78 degrees Celsius).
