Nisa has revealed that its partner retailers using the Deliveroo app broke through the £100,000 sales barrier last week as better weather and the final stages of the Euro 2020 football championship saw shoppers step up their online purchasing. Currently there are more than 90 Nisa retailers using Deliveroo, one of Nisa’s delivered services partners, with more retailers signing up to the service every week.

Australia: ALDI signals change is on the horizon
Over the next 5 years, ALDI is embarking on a series of new initiatives that will see the business adopting smart and bespoke technology to expand the reach of its Good Different shopping experience. Both ALDI’s growing customer base and employees will have an improved experience, while also achieving the ambitious goals to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. Carrefour Spain offloads 38 stores from Supersol acquisition
Carrefour Spain has announced plans to sell 38 of the 172 stores it acquired from its recent takeover of Supersol, to a number of local and regional players. According to trade publication DARetail, Carrefour has signed agreements with Cash Lepe (Andalusia), Froiz (Galicia), Maskom (Malaga) and Ecomor (Madrid), over the future ownership of the stores. Cash Lepe is set to acquire 28 of the outlets, with the stores likely to be integrated into its El Jamón portfolio. Froiz is set to acquire 5 stores, Maskom will take over 4, and Ecomor will acquire a single sore in Madrid.

HelloFresh enters agreement to acquire Australian ready-to-eat meal manufacturer Youfoodz by way of a scheme of arrangement

Lidl GB pledges to increase sales of healthier food
Lidl GB has announced an ambitious new healthy food commitment, which will see the discounter increase sales of healthy and healthier products to at least 85% of total sales, based on tonnage volume, by 2025. This comes as the discounter has invested in its ‘Get Fresh’ initiative, which aims to increase the range of fresh healthy products, like fresh meat, fruit and vegetables available to customers in-store to offer even more healthy choices. Australia: Woolworths proposes to build new fulfilment centre to service ecommerce sales growth
Woolworths has lodged development plans with the Sutherland Shire Council to build a new online customer fulfilment centre (CFC) in Caringbah, New South Wales to service the growth in online grocery orders. The supermarket giant envisions the new 7,200 square metre CFC as a space that can fulfil an extra 15,000 home deliveries and direct-to-boot pick-up windows each week for customers based in the Sutherland Shire, spanning from Kurnell to Engadine.
