Recently, &ever, a German vertical farming company, and Modula S.p.A. an Italian manufacturing company in automatic vertical warehouses, announced a partnership to create a fully automated farming system for high-value fruity crops, among them strawberries. The first four named Super Towers, will be installed in Singapore in March 2022.

For the new project, &ever will contribute the plant science and management to grow hyperlocal high-value crops and fruits in a climate stable environment. Whereas, Modula will build and maintain the super towers. “They have been very enthusiastic about the project from the start,” says Mark.
Next to that, Modula is one of the most renowned vertical warehouse solution providers, the second 2nd largest in the world. “This is why Modula is so important to us as they offer after-sales support and maintenance on a global scale.”
Everyone loves strawberries!
Mark explains that strawberries are ideally suited for this particular solution as their harvesting takes time for a longer period (up to 4 weeks). As plants need to be retrieved, analyzed, and harvested continuously, a highly flexible system is needed. From a consumer point of view, growing these crops hyperlocal allows &ever to offer varieties that are chosen for their superior taste, not for their transportability and resistance.
According to Mark “As we are focusing on a superior taste experience we are sure our consumers will find their customers.” The product price is aimed at a fair price for a superior product. &ever thinks there is a market for superior products and better taste.
“We see this in many categories that consumers eat less but go for higher quality. Everybody loves strawberries, everywhere in the world,” Mark notes. &ever’s ambition is to build and operate 1000+ super towers all over the world with retailers, canteen resorts, hotels.
